Cookguy helps you keep track of ingredients and create recipes. This policy explains what information is handled when you use the Cookguy mobile app, website, and related services (together, the “Services”).
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: your email address, display name, profile details, and sign-in information. If you use Apple or Google sign-in, we receive the account details you authorize that provider to share.
- Kitchen and recipe content: pantry items, preferences, recipe requests, saved recipes, ratings, recipe conversations, and content you choose to make public.
- Photos: images you select or take when using ingredient-recognition features. Cookguy only accesses your camera or photo library after you grant device permission.
- Support messages: information you include when you contact us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and app information such as device type, operating system, app version, language, time zone, and identifiers needed to operate the Services.
- Usage and diagnostic information, including feature activity, crash data, performance data, and approximate location inferred from IP address.
- A push-notification token and notification preferences if you enable notifications.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide, personalize, maintain, and secure Cookguy;
- recognize ingredients, generate recipe ideas and images, translate recipes, and answer recipe-related questions;
- save your pantry and recipes across devices and show content in your preferred language;
- send service messages and, with your permission, recipe notifications;
- prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our terms, troubleshoot issues, and improve the Services; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.
Where required by law, we rely on your consent, performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving Cookguy, and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Your choices and rights
- You can update profile, language, recipe, and notification preferences in the app.
- You can withdraw camera, photo-library, or notification permission in your device settings.
- You may request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of personal information, or object to certain processing, where local law provides those rights.
- You may delete individual pantry items, recipes, and chats in the app. To request account deletion, contact us using the address below.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also have the right to complain to your local privacy or data-protection authority.
5. Retention and security
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary based on the type of information and why it is used. We may retain de-identified information that can no longer reasonably identify you.
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No internet or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
Cookguy is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us.
6. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Cookguy changes. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where required.
